So ends the annual Fastaval, which is Denmark’s biggest role playing congress with loads of exciting scenarios, both LARP and pen&paper – not to forget loads of board and card games.
It has been four years since I was there last time, and I must say this time was a lot better. It was very well organised, the game masters were awesome and the stories very well made. The only downside was that we had to sleep on another school that was about a km or two away and it was freezing outside, even though it was spring.
The scenarios I played were To Alen and Requiem. The first one a Star Wars scenario about 3 jedi’s and two mercenaries who are sent on a mission to a planet to investigate the death of a padawan. The other a vampire scenario without a system, where you wake up in Denmark under Kolding Hus 400 years after you were burried – some peasants found you and you start with running for your life cause the peasants have summoned a very powerful priest – the only thing you remember is that you have to fulfill a profecy and where your master were living, and you are thristy as hell for blood.
Both scenarios were very interesting and the GM’s did a really good job to make you feel like you were actually there, especially Troels Rohde Hansen that was the writer and GM for To Alen. He made us do some LARPing, preteding to have light sabres in our hands, blaster riffles and what not. Very entertaining.
Apart from the two official Fastaval scenarios, I also played some D&D with some friends from our local youth school, one with starter level chars and one I had played before and where my char had reached level 12, a pretty cool monk.
Well all in all the overall experience was very good, I cannot complain. I’m looking forward to next years Fastaval.
